Our LIttle Queen

Amelia had a wonderful time at the Distinguished Young Woman of SC program. Just like Girls State, it was a great time to meet lots of super girls from around the state.

She and her friend Kristen from Greenwood continue to insist that they will room together at Clemson!

And like her friend Kelly from home, her new friend Kelly is quite a character!

They made visits to Children's Hospital and the Boys and Girls Club with gifts in hand.

She fell in love with her host family and their precious girls. She was so lucky to have the Collins to come home to each night. I know it made the week more relaxing. They are an adorable little family!

The director, "Mrs. Vicki" won Amelia's heart as well.

She did a great job in all the categories and made top 8!

Her cheering section could not have been more proud! And had a good time playing pageant critics! Ha!

I'm glad my baby had so many great opportunities this summer - but I'm glad it's all R and R these last few weeks before school! She deserves it!

Mission Accomplished!

Both kids made it back alive from their duties in Cranks, Kentucky! (This is the face Amelia always makes around her brother!)

On the way they stopped at the Natural Tunnel Park to have a little fun with their group. Never heard of it but it looks pretty cool!

Ben and his buddy Ashton - they look a lot alike - Ben has on the Clemson hat.

Amelia and her friend Allison.

Then it came time for work. The house the guys stayed in had no electricity. The girls had electricity - but were on the top floor of a facility with no air conditioning and windows that didn't open. They have a new appreciation for thermostats.

Ben and his crew built a handicap ramp at a little lady's home.

Amelia and Jake were in the same group. They tore down and rebuilt a rotten porch.

They say ignorance is bliss. I guess so - because I don't think I would have enjoyed my girls' week at the beach if I had known that both my kids were working skill saws all week!

They say the food was good - even if they ate outdoors in the weather!

They met lots of good friends - and as usual, God rewarded Amelia for her good deeds by providing good looking boys from other churches!

We get a few days at home and then they're off again! It's all well and good until school starts - then we'll wonder where the summer went!
